GEORGE NEWS - The Garden Route SPCA has thought of a fun way for animal lovers to contribute to the SPCA and at the same time give time for Mandela Day.
Gerda Reynders of the SPCA says anyone can take part. It works like this: your colleagues will charge you with something silly and fun, inspectors from the SPCA will come and arrest you at your place of work and you will be taken away.
"The person arrested then gets one call to someone to come bail them out. A minimum of R300 is set for bail, but it depends on how popular you are."
While in jail, if you need water or food, you are more than welcome to bribe the inspectors with donations that will go to the SPCA. Reynders says you can nominate anyone in your office or family to be arrested. "Just please get their consent before you nominate and get them arrested."
Once you have your nominee you can contact Reynders at the SPCA with the charges. You can make the charges as unrealistic as possible, because this is all fun and games and should be kept in good humour. All proceeds will go towards keeping the animals happy. Contact Reynders on 044 878 1990 or educationg@grspca.co.za.
