GEORGE NEWS - Gang violence has reared its ugly head again among the youth in Thembalethu, resulting in the murder of an 18-year-old boy over the past weekend.
The police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the murder of Sinoxolo Mlunguza (18) in Thembalethu just after 01:00 on 8 October.
According to Captain Malcolm Pojie, Southern Cape Police spokesperson, the suspect was arrested in Mossel Bay after leads and witness accounts were followed up.
Pojie said police investigations revealed that Sinoxolo was attacked by a group of young men in Lukhanyo Street in Zone 9.
"The victim sustained several stab wounds to his body and died on his way to the hospital. The 16-year-old suspect is currently detained, awaiting assessment by a social worker," said Pojie.
The suspect will appear in the George Magistrate's Court today(Wednesday 11 October).
