ELECTION NEWS - The Western Cape remains blue, statistics indicated late on Thursday, 9 May.
The Western Cape Electoral Officer, Courtney Sampson has said the final figures will only be available by approximately midday on Friday.
However, indications are that, with 85.94% of the provincial votes counted, the DA is in a comfortable lead with 55.17% of the vote.
The ANC (28.79), however cautions that the tally from their traditional strong base – Khayelithsa – is not yet calculated and therefore the results may be vastly different once 100% of the results are available.
The EFF (3.8%), GOOD (3.07%), ACDP (2.60%), and the Freedom Front Plus (1.74%) follows in the wake of the bigger parties. This snapshot was at 19:45.
Late on Thursday evening the national results indicated that 10 463 035 voters had cast their vote, a voter turnout of 65.43%. This translates into voter support for the ANC (56.70%), DA (22.50%), EFF (9.85%), IFP (2.77%), FF+ (2.59%).
