BUSINESS NEWS - The journey of the Houtbosch Winery is an interesting one, to say the least.
The founder of Houtbosch is Kevin Floyd, who was the guitarist of the band DORP and got to tour the world during the 13 years he spent in the UK as a signed musician.
"I have always had two passions in life, music and wine. Music was number one but now wine is my true passion," he says.
Houtbosch is proudly local with its vineyards located in Waboomskraal, but made the decision to open their tasting rooms at the Redberry Farm in an effort to bring the tasting rooms to the people.
In its first year of production, Houtbosch has already won a Vitis Vinifera Gold award for their flagship Pinot Noir and a 4 Star Platter award for their Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir respectively.
"When Georgians drink Houtbosch wines, we want them to know that they are tasting George itself.
"They will taste the rain, the sea, the unique sandstone soil and the high altitude of our vineyards on the Outeniqua Mountains. Houtbosch Wines are grown in George for George people."
Houtbosch Wines also has a growing online shop, which is a big part of the business - and with free delivery it's easy to see why.
They also promise to make delivery on the same day that the payment is received locally, at the customer's convenience.
Houtbosch Wines is the perfect venue for corporate functions, private functions, birthdays, wedding parties etc. Being located at the Redberry Farm means the kids can have fun too.
Houtbosch Wines also has a rapidly growing members club offering members discounts and VIP invites to events.
Houtbosch Wines will be hosting monthly events, with the next being Valentine's Day on 14 February, where R160 will get you a three-course meal and a wine tasting with live music performed by Kevin Floyd.
