GEORGE NEWS - A relative newcomer on the courier scene, Globeflight, has propelled itself to the forefront of the industry in a mere 12 years, establishing such a rock-fast reputation that even its competitors use its services.
"Although the company initially focused on international business, Globeflight is now recognised as being pre-eminent in the domestic market as well," comments managing director Eddie Meyer.

Within four years, Globeflight became the first South African-owned courier company to open an international branch in the UK and, in 2009, it set up shop in Hong Kong.
Globeflight is expected to create the same opportunities for countless companies in China as it has for untold numbers on the African continent.

The company has become an acknow-ledged leader in providing courier services into Africa. "In the UK we are known as the African agent to use," adds Meyer. "Some 380 courier companies in London operate through us."
According to sales and marketing director Jo-ann Grace, it is this creativity, coupled with unparalleled flexibility, which distinguishes Globeflight from ‘the rest’.

Meyer claims that one of the most satisfying achievements was managing to integrate information electronically with all global partners. "This enables our customers to see from minute to minute the progress of every consignment through every scanning event across the world right up to final delivery," he points out.

The current change in corporate colours from blue to bright lime green reflects the new focus on the environment.
"We are driving a massive eco-friendly campaign," says Grace. "We’ve provided our customers with recycling bins for all our material. We use only recyclable plastic.

"We’re also saving more than six tons of paper a year by cutting down on waybills parts and forwarding invoices and statements electronically. We even select suppliers according to their own environmental policies. The future is definitely onwards and upwards."
Says Meyer: "We envisage an expanded footprint in Africa and global offices to the north, south, east and west."
