Various service providers, stakeholders and dedicated employees who contributed to the achievements of the airport were awarded certificates.
Airport manager Brenda Moses praised all in attendance for their contribution in making George Airport the success it is. "It’s been a hard year with so many highlights and everyone delivered."
Moses said that the airport would look into creating attractive tourism packages together with other role players to bring more visitors to the region.
André Vermeulen, Acsa group manager of operations, praised Moses and her team for their handling of the 2010 World Cup. He also said that there was a decline in the number of flights to George and expressed hope that the airlines would consider offering more affordable flights to the region.
The Feather Awards go to Acsa service providers that have impressed Acsa clients during the year. Independent consultants do quarterly surveys amongst airline passengers to determine who impressed their clients most. Those who did not receive certificates stood a chance of winning in a number of lucky draws that were held.
