"Passengers should move through the system as quickly as possible so that the notion of a professional level of service is maintained and improved upon."
Last week at the annual Acsa George (Airports Company South Africa) Feather Awards held at Down to Earth near Herold's Bay, all role-players were hailed for their contribution to ensure that the airport is continually judged the best in its category in Africa.
Vorster said the synergy between the ground staff, baggage handlers, security, the retailers, car rental agencies, technical staff and client services ensures that a visit to the George airport is a lasting enjoyable memory.
The theme of the function was Arabian Nights and guests were treated to Middle Eastern food while belly dancers energised the atmosphere.
Vorster said that 2012 has been a tough year for many businesses and the travel industry was not immune to the challenges of higher fuel bills and a weakening of the rand/dollar exchange rate.
She said Acsa is fully committed to the future development of George and the region and will support community projects where possible. Recently Acsa joined forces with other concerned role-players to ensure that next year's OCC (Outeniqua Wheel Chair Challenge) takes place. The event was in a tenuous situation and had already been cancelled for 2013.
Sponsorship has been increased substantially and Acsa will be the major sponsor of the event in February.
