Hop-huis van hartseer gesloop
"Daar het nie mooi dinge gebeur nie. Dit was 'n nes. Ouens het heeldag tik en Mandrax gerook en snags… Mans en vrouens. Nee, dit was erg." Só praat Henry Meyer, die buurman van 'n huis in Aaronsingel, New Dawn Park, na afloop van die naweek se gebeure waar 'n jong man sy lewe verloor het. Dié huis, 'n Hop-huis wat aan George-munisipaliteit behoort, is Maandagmiddag binne enkele ure deur 'n handjie vol inwoners tot op die grond met 5-pond-hamers afgebreek. "Dit was nodig. Dit voel goed," het Meyer gesê.
