GEORGE NEWS - For the first time, York High Dance Studio and Hoërskool Outeniqua united their talents in a vibrant joint production, Studio to Stage, held in George last weekend.
Dancers from both schools captivated audiences with a diverse showcase of dance styles, skill and passion.
Wehan van Jaarsveld, Outeniqua's dance instructor, described the collaboration as pure joy. "I've always admired York High's inclusive, balanced approach to education," he said. "Both schools shine as public institutions with arts and culture departments that act as villages, nurturing a wide range of dance styles."
Linda Johnson, head of York High's dance department, emphasised her mission: "I aim to shape exceptional people, not just dancers, equipping them for the corporate world."

York focuses on jazz and its branches - lyrical, contemporary, African dance and ballet fusion - while Outeniqua explores Spanish, Flamenco, street and stage performance.
Van Jaarsveld was deeply moved by York High principal Francois Moll's words: "When you've danced for the first time, you are never the same again."
This historic collaboration celebrated dance's transfor-mative power and left a lasting impact.
