GEORGE NEWS - An event high on the list of many local families is York High School's International Food Festival, which this year was held on Saturday 9 March.
The festival was well supported by Yorkies and the broader community of food lovers, with Stiles and GoSolr the main sponsors of this year's event.
An incredible variety of delicious dishes was on offer, including a Mediterranean store serving tapas and shawarmas. All the stalls are run by parents of York High, and each stall is decorated according to the country it represents.
The International Food Festival is a chance to taste food from various countries, such as sushi from Japan, wraps from Mexico, burgers from the USA and fresh battered hake and chips from England.
Families with young children also had the pleasure of a fun park with slides and children's entertainment. Even the teenagers enjoyed shooting paint balls, while the adults relaxed in a beer garden with a glass of cold refreshment.

Yorkies also had the opportunity to perform on stage during the festival. One such performer is Casey van Reenen (16) who gave six vocal performances. Casey participated in York High's Voice competition last year; she regularly performs with the FHC (Familie Huis in Christus) Garden Route band (vocals and bass guitar) and performed at the KKNK on the Baron van Rheede stage on Wednesday 27 March.
Headmaster Francois Moll thanked everyone who came out to support the event, including York High's faithful sponsors.
