BUSINESS NEWS - Open-access fibre infrastructure provider Frogfoot Networks has been voted by locals as the best internet service provider in the latest Best of George awards.
This is the second time that residents have awarded the title to Frogfoot, following an earlier win in 2024.
Organised by Group Editors, the awards are a community-driven effort to showcase and recommend local businesses that residents trust most.
Each year, the community votes for their favourite businesses across a wide range of categories, helping locals and visitors discover where to eat, shop, and do business with confidence.
"Because this recommendation comes directly from the local George community, it directly reflects the residents' day-to-day experience with using Frogfoot's fibre network, highlighting service reliability and availability," says Jonel Schalkwyk, FTTH product manager at Frogfoot Networks.
While being recognised under the ISP category, Frogfoot primarily operates as a fibre network operator (FNO), building and maintaining the underlying physical network infrastructure and partnering with independent ISPs who then deliver connectivity services to end users.
Being an open-access network, individuals and businesses have the freedom to choose their own preferred service provider and line speed, at a price that is acceptable to them.
"George and Garden Route remains a strategic focus area for Frogfoot's long-term network investment, and the FNO is looking to continue growing its fibre footprint to bring high-speed connectivity to more households across the city," adds Schalkwyk.
Frogfoot believes that access to the internet is not a luxury, but a fundamental tool for enablement through bringing opportunities to local communities.
Beyond enabling people to work from home, high-speed internet brings opportunities for online learning, as well as 'side hustles' powered by connectivity.
In addition, expanding fibre networks is a sizeable undertaking, which creates opportunities for economic growth as Frogfoot partners with local businesses in the roll-out.
