Event convenor, Mrs Charlene Stanton, says: "The table hostesses really outdid themselves. Each one went to so much trouble to ensure their guests were treated to a spectacular experience."
Prizes were awarded for the best dressed table and the best dressed ladies at the table. Tables were judged by an outside panel, with no idea of who belonged to which table, consisting of Murray Aitken, general manager of Fancourt, Alicia Harris, banqueting manager at Fancourt, and Elsabe Aldrich, guest speaker.
For the second year in a row, the title of ‘Best Dressed Table’ went to Ebenita Divaris. It was a tough choice for best dressed ladies, with Egypt, USA, Spain and India all in the running, but in the end, the prize went to the ladies of Germany.
In addition to a spectacularly humorous presentation by guest speaker Elsabe Aldrich who flew in from Cape Town for the event, guests were treated to an overflowing goodie bag, lucky draw prizes and an auction, thanks to the many businesses in the region who gave generously.
One of the auction prizes was a one-of-a-kind make-over by international make-up artist, Chantelle of C3, a shopping trip for a designer dress at AZUL Boutique at Langeberg Mall, as well as hair, nails, eyelashes, tan and photo-shoot.
A total of eight packages were auctioned to a receptive audience by Wiidke van Rensburg, who managed to raise a total of R20 000 for the school.
Founder of the event, Aldurette Bester said: "We were delighted to see so many ladies from all over George enjoying the evening with us and look forward to an even bigger and glitzier affair next year! Glenwood House is in the process of adopting an underprivileged school that will also benefit from the event."
