GEORGE NEWS - Established fans of Bottomless Coffee Band (BCB) will have already booked their seats for their coming show in George.
Those who haven't experienced their distinctive, original sound, should not let this opportunity pass.
The multi-instrumental folk-pop duo will introduce their new album Anthelia at 19:30 on Friday 13 April at the Oakhurst Insurance George Arts Theatre. Tickets are R150.
Lourens and Esté Rabé of BCB recently performed at the KKNK and are travelling the country to introduce Anthelia. The band has been steadily making waves in the South African music industry and fans will hear extracts from their new full-length album, which was released in February.
The band takes a more flavoured turn with this new offering and the album consists of 11 brand-new tracks. According to the Rabés the aim was to make a diverse album while maintaining the ethos of the band.
They have conjured up songs that stay true to their aim to "create a feel-good vibe with a strong message".
Gutsy
It includes gutsy social political songs with a unique local flavour, power ballads and love songs. The sound is a combination of folk-pop and rock with hints of classical tones.
They have even included one or two surprises for Afrikaans fans. BCB have played an average of 150 shows per year since the release of their debut album Room With A View in 2015.
The success of the album led to both leaving their corporate careers to build a career in full-time music. What makes their shows unusual, is that Lourens and Esté play up to 12 instruments between the two of them during their shows.
