South Africa's finest added seven gold, two silver and three bronze medals to their tally on Tuesday night.
Golden boy Chad le Clos finished the 50m butterfly with a new Championship Record time of 23.51, winning his second gold of the competition, ahead of Egypt’s Omar Eissa and Ahmed Bahgat in 24.18 and 24.94 respectively. Alard Basson finished fourth in 24.94.
Limpopo’s Martin Bindell and Gauteng’s Ricky Ellis were the gold and silver duo in the 200m backstroke, clocking 2:02.23 and 2:02.32 respectively, while the bronze went to Egypt’s Mohamed Khaled in 2:04.35.
The fast improving Clayton Jimmie continued to impress when he swam to a gold medal in the 100m freestyle in 49.93, with teammate Caydon Muller claiming the bronze in 50.28. The silver was won by Egypt’s Mohamed Samy in 49.97.
