GEORGE NEWS - The Phangela SWD Eagles are through to the Carling Currie Cup First Division semi-finals after beating the Leopards 33-45 on their home turf at Olen Park in Potchefstroom. At half-time the score was even at 19-19 and a total of 12 tries were scored during the match.
The Eagles narrowly sneaked into fourth position on the log past the Leopards thanks to their points difference.
Both the Eagles and Leopards have two wins and three losses with 12 points on the log, but the Eagles' -21 points difference places them above the Leopards who has -79.
The semi-final will take place on Saturday 20 July when the Eagles take on log leaders Boland Kavaliers in Wellington. It will be a tough game for the Eagles who will have to improve on their previous performance against the Kavaliers which they lost 43-7.
