GEORGE NEWS - The Phangela SWD Eagles came away with a hard-fought victory against rivals Border Bulldogs at their home field during their Currie Cup First Division campaign with a final score of 45-26. The pressure was on from the start at Outeniqua Park with the Eagles confidently leading 33-14 at half time.
SWD head coach Zane Kirchner said it was pleasing to get this result against the Border Bulldogs. "Our preparation will never be in question and the level of aggression and intent the men brought against Border drove towards a great result," said Kirchner.
The Eagles are currently fifth on the log out of six teams with five points, lying above the Bulldogs and below the Leopards. Their next match is on Saturday 29 June against the Boland Kavaliers in Ceres.
"We are going back to processes as we build towards a rivalry that excites everyone in the rugby environment. The fans can expect and look forward to a very physical fixture," said Kirchner.
