GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The 5th International Hunting Rifle Shooting Association (IHRSA) World Hunting Rifle Shooting Championship got under way at Louvain Guest Farm near Herold on Sunday 12 July.
Competitors from South Africa, Namibia and the Czech Republic are taking part in the championship, which has already presented a series of challenging tests across six unique shooting ranges.
The championship features quick, timed stages across four steel gong ranges and two paper target stages, with varied shooting positions and distances testing competitors' speed, accuracy and decision-making. Calm weather and light wind have provided favourable shooting conditions up till now.
The championship course of fire has proven particularly demanding. From the opening steel gong stage to the final guineafowl target, each range presents a different challenge, showcasing the diversity of hunting rifle shooting while bringing competitors one step closer to world championship honours.
Organisers have expressed satisfaction with the event's progress and the high standard of sportsmanship displayed by the competitors.
