GARDEN ROUTE | KAROO NEWS AND VIDEO - Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM) firefighters have been deployed to Oudtshoorn to manage a diesel spill after a huge truck transporting grain overturned in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 16 July.
According to GRDM head of communications, Herman Pieters, the accident happened near Kobus Se Gat (P369), about 14km before the Swartberg Pass in the direction of Prins Albert.
Only the driver was in the vehicle and is being treated for minor injuries after the truck left the road and ended up in the river.
The road is currently closed and efforts will be made to facilitate traffic flow where practical.
Pieters says agencies on the scene include GRDM Fire and Rescue Services, SAPS, EMS and Provincial Traffic.
