GEORGE NEWS - A 43-year-old woman has been arrested following the death of a 35-year-old woman in Thembalethu, George, during the early hours of Sunday 12 July.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Warrant Officer Chris Spies, Thembalethu police responded to reports of a fight in 21st Street, Zone 7, at about 02:00.
Officers found the body of a 35-year-old woman inside a shack. She had sustained multiple open wounds to her head and face. Paramedics declared her dead at the scene.
Police launched an investigation that led to the arrest of a 43-year-old woman in connection with the incident. The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to appear in the Thembalethu Magistrate's Court on a charge of murder on Tuesday 14 July.
The motive for the attack has not yet been established. The police investigation is ongoing.
