GEORGE BOWLS NEWS - At its recent annual general meeting, Stuart Marchant was unanimously re-elected as president for the second consecutive year of the George Bowling Club.
Also re-elected were Petro Breedt (treasurer), Wendy Murray and Johan van Blerk as competition secretary for women and men respectively, and Ken Spence as club manager.
The newly elected vice-president is Louis Prinsloo, whilst Christine Vermaak is the club's secretary. Vlam Basson is still the greenkeeper through whose dedicated and diligent greenkeeping George Club boasts with the best greens not only in the district, but also in South Africa. He also serves on the Greenkeepers' Standing Committee of Bowls South Africa. Betty Mason is in charge of the coaching.
The following members were elected to serve on the club committee: Phyllis Thompson, Jill Power, Dave Battye and Tys Pringle, who has been tasked to act as media
liaison officer for the club, having served in that capacity for Bowls South Africa during his 8-year term of office as executive member of Bowls SA. George Bowling Club is now in its 86th year of existence, having been established in 1932, and is still one of the most prominent clubs in the Eden district.
