GEORGE KARATE NEWS - The annual Southern Cape Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate Tournament took place in George over the weekend for the 35th time.
It was well attended by clubs from the Southern Cape and Eastern Cape, with Graaff Reinet taking part for the first time. The event was packed with action, including divisions starting from under seven years catering for kumite, kata and uni-son team kata.
The highlight of the day was the senior black belt division, where Sieg Minnie from George took first place in kata and Jaco Saayman from Oudtshoorn took gold in kumite, while Tanisha McLellan won the junior black belt kata event.
The tournament was organised by the George Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate Shibu dojo.
