GEORGE NEWS - The George Bowling Club men's side recently won the Eden District Premier League, which was held over three consecutive Saturdays. The first round was played at the Outeniqua club, followed by Great Brak and then finally in the sweltering heat of Oudtshoorn.
The league consists of nine teams, with three games being played per day. The teams consist of a pairs team and a trips team from each participating club.
The trips team of Prof Stadler, Mike McCarthy and Zakes Salemane of George Bowling Club won eight of their nine games, with the pairs team of Billy Radloff and Henk Barnard (with Jacques Barnard playing the first three games) winning seven of the nine games played.
The George team came out tops with a total of 195 points, followed by Stilbaai with 159 points and Outeniqua Bowling Club with 148 points.
George Bowling Club also featured well in the other leagues, with the ladies taking honours in the Second League and the men also winning the Men's Third League.
