GEORGE NEWS - Ryukyu Kobudo held it first national tournament in George recently with entries from Gauteng, Eastern Cape and Western Cape.
The tournament was opened with demonstrations by senior kobudo-ka in the more advanced weaponry of this Okinawan martial art.
Junior and senior competitors competed in twelve separate divisions to display their skills in two different kobudo weapons.
Gold medals went to Lianke Barkhuizen, Damian du Plessis, Sieg Minnie jnr, Justin Stander, Tjaart Helberg, Richardu Janse van Rensburg, Angelo Prins, (Western Cape), Henk Barnard, Sarah Ferg, Reino Opperman, Natalie May (Eastern Cape) and Stefan Coetzee (Gauteng).
