GEORGE NEWS - The Child Active year-end tournament was held over the weekend at Outeniqua Primary's sport fields. According to Wessel Hartslief, manager and head of Cricket Child Active Sports Academy, matches were played in cricket, netball, hockey, soccer and rugby.
The Panthers and Thunderbolts went head to head in the u.13 cricket event. The event involved three T20s, best out of three. The Panthers won two of the T20s, coming out top. Unfortunately, the third T20 rained out.
"We had some good individual performances from our youngsters, Tiaan Janse van Rensburg with scores of 32 not out and 26 not out," said Hartslief.
"He also took a hat trick in the second game. Wian van Tonder Scored 56 not out in the second T20, smashing six sixes and three fours."
Hartslief said the hockey, football, rugby and netball matches were also really good.
The academy's new website will soon be up and running and all the photos of the tournament will be posted there.
