GEORGE KARATE NEWS - Members of the George Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate School recently entered for the first OGKK Virtual Kata Tournament that was hosted in May.
Entrants had to record their katas at their perspective dojos and the recordings were then submitted for adjudication by a panel of judges at the OGKK headquarters in Cape Town.
George OGKK dojo managed to snatch fourteen medals, with RC Coetzee, Ian Voges and Janko Joubert receiving gold.
The next Virtual Contest will be the RSA Open Goju Ryu Virtual Kata Challenge on 14 August.
The event format is suitable for all ages and belt levels. The event also serves as registration for trials for the 2022 World Goju Ryu Karate Federation (WGKF) Championships in Italy.
