GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Grootbrak Grabadoo, an iconic event on the Garden Route, is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary on 30 December, making it a highly anticipated occasion for locals and visitors alike.
Traditionally hosted on the last day of the year, this year's event will take place on Saturday the 30th, offering a perfect way for families and friends to end off the year.
Participants will have a variety of options, including mountain bike routes spanning four different distances and a delightful fun walk through the scenic village of Great Brak River.
Alewijn Dippenaar, the veteran route coordinator, promises a top-class mountain bike family day with breathtaking tracks through the Garden Route's spectacular floral kingdom.
The event not only leaves lasting memories for participants but also provides well-deserved buffs and medals as mementos of their adventure.
Cyclists can choose from routes of 15km, 36km, 58km and 72km, while the fun walk covers an enjoyable distance of just under 5km.
Grootbrak Grabadoo, a fixture for the past two decades, mobilises the entire village, engaging local community organisations, sports clubs, residents and businesses.
It is scheduled to commence at 06:00 on Saturday 30 December at Great Brak Sport Grounds in Lang Street, opposite Peperboom Restaurant.
The event requires online entries by 29 December.

Pre-entries can be made at the sports grounds on 29 December from 08:00 to 17:00, with late entries accepted on the 30th from 06:00 to 06:30. The "no helmet, no ride" rule for cyclists will be strictly enforced.
