GEORGE NEWS - Heidedal Primary School is gearing up for a charity golf day on Sunday 13 October at the George Golf Club. The event aims to raise funds for a new school hall, a critical addition to the school's infrastructure.
The day will feature a Betterball Stableford format, with competitions for nearest to the pin, longest drive and longest straight drive.
Participants can also look forward to a lucky draw, goody bags, and an auction with fantastic prizes.
The entry fee is R400 per player, with a tee-off time set for 12:00.
The prize-giving ceremony will start at 18:00. Golf carts are available for R350 each, with 28 carts on a first-come, first-served basis. Caddies can be hired at R250 for 18 holes.
"This event is an excellent opportunity to enjoy a day of networking, relaxation, and friendly competition, all while supporting a meaningful cause - our school's 1 450 learners," said Heidedal's principal, Dudley Schoeman.
"Heidedal Primary is a beacon of hope for children from diverse backgrounds.
"Our dedicated staff of 41 educators work tirelessly to provide the highest standard of education, despite the limited resources and facilities.
"As a school that has reached full capacity with 36 classes from Grades R to 7, we face significant challenges, particularly the absence of a school hall.
"A new school hall is critical for expanding our programmes and creating a space where our students can thrive in sports, arts, and various extracurricular activities.
"Your participation in our golf day will directly contribute to this essential project, helping us to nurture the future leaders of our community.
"Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a lasting impact on our school community. We hope to see you on the green!"
