GEORGE FOOTBALL NEWS - The Lawaaikamp-based side Young Blues FC faced the struggling Parks United for the first time in the Safa Regional League. The Parkdene side failed to collect a single point in their three opening games and their nose was rubbed in the dirt when Young Blues sank them 3-2 on Sunday afternoon, 17 November at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
Young Blues launched the first attack employing the strength and experience of Mvuyisi "Vise" Zweni to unlock the struggling Parks United defenders. Both teams were trying to play the ball on the ground looking for the first goal of the game.
A reckless foul inside the box by Parks United defender Lizwelethu "Mabizela" Dwili led to Young Blues scoring the first goal from the penalty, with Mvuyisi Zweni scoring to make it 1-0.
Young Blues kept up the pace creating more chances, but when Mvuyisi Zweni got a shot, it went over cross bar. Asithandile "Festival" Zweni sent several marvellous crosses inside the box from the left side of the field. Parks tried to chase the game but it was not easy to keep up with Young Blues.
Parks scored their first goal to make it 1-1 after a strong attack from the right side of the field. A shot by Young Blues left-footed player Monwabisi Gcuwa was well saved by Parks goalkeeper Bradwill Bruinders. When the whistle blew the score was 1-1.
In the second half Young Blues scored their second goal after a strong attack from the right side to make it 2-1. Parks came back and scored the equaliser from a set piece just outside the box to make it 2-2. The hard-working striker of Young Blues, Mvuyisi "Vice" Zweni, pulled the winner, scoring their third goal after unlocking Parks' centre defenders.
The game ended 3-2.
