GEORGE NEWS - Burning Fire FC (Umlilo) knocked the Western Tigers 1-0 in a Geolfa League game on Sunday afternoon, 17 March at the Lawaaikamp Stadium with Siphenkosi Kanafana netting the only goal of the game.
With 22 points, Burning Fire is currently third on the log table and aiming for the top. They have played 11 fixtures with seven victories, one draw and three defeats.
The Tigers are in eighth position with fifteen points.
A fast-paced first half saw Akhona Luke of Burning Fire FC missing the target from just outside the box, and no score on the board by half time.
The second half was marked by top ball management from Tigers but they could not put any scorek on the board. Excellent work from the centre of the field saw Burning Fire's Siphenkosi Kanafana score the sole goal of the game, making it 1-0.
A desperate attempt by Athule Damons of Western Tigers to save the day for his team was in vain when the ball hit the upright and Burning Fire went home with the bragging rights.
