GEORGE NEWS - Burning Fire (Umlilo) played a goalless draw against Fast Eleven in a Geolfa League encounter on Saturday afternoon, 6 July at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
With 55 points, Fast Eleven is second on the Geolfa log table and will be fighting to reach the top spot in their three remaining fixtures. They have played 27 games with 17 wins, four draws and six defeats.Umlilo is currently sitting at fifth position with 49 points.
The game started out promising with Fast Eleven displaying great work on the ball.
Jongikhaya Myana and Ndumiso controlled the game from the centre of the field, supported by Nkosiyethu Seyibokwe. Burning Fire missed a golden opportunity just before the half-time whistle when Sipheosi "Klate" Kanafana's shot went over the bar. The second half saw Umlilo initially taking the game from Fast Eleven, but they could not prevent Jongikhaya Myana from taking a shot just outside the box. It was however stopped by the Burning Fire goalkeeper. Burning Fire tried getting ahead by playing the ball on the ground. There were many opportunities to score, but neither of the sides managed to kick the ball into the net.
