GEORGE NEWS - The Lawaaikamp-based side Black Cats played out to a 3-0 victory over Nelson Mandela University in their last Regional League fixture of the 2023/24 season on Saturday afternoon, 8 June at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
With 59 points, the Cats ended their Hollywoodbets Regional League in second position, just missing the opportunity to play in the Western Cape Third Division playoffs.
Madibaz, who were playing their first season in the regional league, had a tough time of it and are still at the bottom half of the table.
Mthembu Mandla scored the only goal of the first half with second-half goals by Nkosiyabo Toto and Imibongo Mpengezi. The latter was a rebound ball after a penalty kick that was originally saved by NMU goalkeeper Masixole Dayizana.
After the game, Madibaz football head coach Zanoxolo Hlwayi said his team were playing without some of the regulars, as a number had already gone home for the holiday.
