GEORGE FOOTBALL NEWS - "Umlilo Ovuthayo" Burning Fire Football Club, from the dusty streets of Thembalethu, maintained their hopes of playing in the Safa Eden SAB Regional League after qualifying for this elite competition for the 2020/2021 season.
Safa Eden held its Local Football Associations' (LFA) play-offs in Oudtshoorn last weekend with five teams battling it out for the top two spots in the Eden Regional League.
The participating teams were Benfica FC (Mossel Bay), Burning Fire FC (George), Junior Golden Stars FC (Plettenberg Bay), Smuts United FC (Knysna) and Black Eagles FC (Oudtshoorn).
Both Benfica and Burning Fire gained promotion to the SAB Regional League for the upcoming season.
Burning Fire played four games, won two and drew two during their play-offs, finishing in the second spot, while Benfica are sitting in the top position of the group with eight points after winning two matches and drawing two.
