FOOTBALL NEWS - The high-flying Oriented Birds (OB) from Plettenberg Bay extended their lead in the Safa Third-tier Regional Men's League after sinking Eastern City 4-0 on Saturday morning, 29 October, at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
The four goals were netted by Khanyisani "Mashesha" Radebe (brace), Siyabonga "Musasa" Sodumo and Sinethemba "Evergreen" Bhatyi for the away side OB. Oriented Birds' goalkeeper, Zakhe Xhotho, and the left-footed player Khanyisani Radebe showed good form and made a big contribution to their team's victory.
The score was opened by Khanyisani "Mashesha" Radebe of OB within the first ten minutes of the game and OB's second goal came courtesy of Khanyisani Radebe, who delivered a beautiful strike.
Eastern City players gave their all to counter the opposition with centre middle fielders Luzuko Sabelesiva and Siphamandla Baliti playing the ball on the ground, but their work was blocked by the OB defenders.
A marvellous attempt by Mike Dumane was also deftly defended by OB goalkeeper Zakhe Xhotho. Eastern City struggled to break through OB's defence, but the Birds were still leading 2-0 into the break.
