SOCCER NEWS - The Zone 9 team, All Stars FC, demolished the Young Pirates with a commanding 7-1 victory in a thrilling George Local Football Association League fixture at the Lawaaikamp Stadium on Sunday afternoon, 1 June.
Lubabalo Papu (brace), Milani Madolo (brace), Amkele Ketelo, Sibabalo Xaluva and Mzwanele Choli contributed the seven goals for All Stars.
Aqhama Jolingana of All Stars displayed a stellar performance during the game, defending against Young Pirates exceptionally well.
Log standings
With 47 points, All Stars are logged at third position. So far, they have played 23 games with 15 wins, two draws and six defeats.
Meanwhile, Young Pirates are in the precarious position of second from the bottom in the relegation zone.
Looking very clever
The game started at a high tempo with All Stars looking very clever on the ball - hunting for their first chance of the game.
Papu registered his name on the scoresheet when he beat the Young Pirates goalkeeper within 10 minutes of the match, making it 1-0.
Young Pirates were playing on the flanks, trying to get their equalising goal. All Stars kept on pushing every ball in front of the box. Papu scored his brace, hitting Young Pirates’ goalkeeper with a powerful shot, making it 2-0.
The Pirates were battling. Madolo extended the All Stars lead to 3-0 just before the half-time whistle.
Chasing the shadows
The second half started at a fast pace as All Stars pushed for more opportunities to the box.
Young Pirates took the ball from the centre of the field - Sinenkosi Keyizana scored the first goal when he beat All Stars’ goalkeeper Zola Choli.
All Stars come back with full force, trying to get more chances. Xaluva netted the fourth goal to make it 4-1, adding more pressure on the Young Pirates defenders.
All Stars were all over the field - the Young Pirates were just chasing the shadows. Madolo scored the fifth goal, piling up more work for the struggling Young Pirates side.
All Stars players kept their heads up. Mzwanele Choli netted the sixth goal.
The Young Pirates players tried so hard to get in the game, but they could not match with the All Stars’ speed. Ketelo hammered home the final nail in the coffin when he netted the seventh goal in the dying moments of the game.
