GEORGE NEWS - In a classical display of rivalry between two Zone 9 teams, Abahlali 'The Residents' triumphed over All Stars with a 3-2 score on Sunday afternoon, 16 June at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
Fanele "Mido" Chele, Siphelo Matiya and Endinako Sishuba netted the three goals for Abahlali FC, while Aqhama Jolingana and Athenkosi Mtshambela scored the two goals for All Stars.
Abahlali FC are currently fourth on the log table fighting their way to the top while All Stars are battling to reach the top five.
The Residents started the game at a fast pace with Fanele Chele missing the first chance to score when his shot went wide.
A corner kick for All Stars did not lead to a goal as their shot was saved by the Abahlali goalkeeper, Abongile Zinganto. Abahlali received a set piece on the right side of the field after a malicious challenge from All Stars back line player Balungile Mkango and Fanele Chele scored a great goal, putting Abahlali in the lead 1-0.
In the second half, All Stars started out channelling the ball down the left side of the field, trying to find holes in the defence.
They scored their first goal from a penalty with Aqhama Jolingana's shot levelling the score on one each, but Siphelo Matiya of Abahlali soon extended their lead with a powerful strike inside the box, followed by their third goal from Endinako Sishuba making the score 3-1.
Athenkosi Mtshambela of All Stars scored the second goal for his side in the last minutes of the game.
