FOOTBALL NEWS - The former Safa Eden Regional League title winner, Simunye FC, kicked off the year on the right foot when they beat the newly promoted side La Liga from Knysna 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The HollywoodBets Regional League encounter took place at the Lawaaikamp Stadium.
Athenkosi Mahala and Siyabonga "Mpumlo" Miggels contributed the two goals for the home team, Simunye, while Wagner Hertzi scored the solitary goal for for La Liga. Simunye goalkeeper Nkosikhona Moss gave an excellent performance.
With 22 points, Simunye is currently occupying the top spot on the log table. They have played nine fixtures with seven wins, playing one draw and one defeat. Meanwhile, La Liga is in the top eight positions on the log.
