Aletta Theron is one of two DA officials who voted with African National Congress counterparts in an unexpected move to oust mayor Jeffery Donson, who is affiliated to the Independent Civic Organisation of South Africa Party.
Representatives have made it clear they've not formed a coalition.
The DA’s James Selfe says the councillors are under investigation. "What appears to be the situation, is that local structures of the party engaged in some unauthorised agreements with the ANC, which is subject to investigation by our party."
