GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The Western Cape High Court's ruling on the Mark Willemse case was passed this afternoon.
Willemse, former mayor of Knysna, took the DA to court for terminating his membership.
The court ruled in favour of the DA party, who opposed Willemse's application for an interdict against the DA party's decision. The DA won the case with costs.
This outcome might impact on the way forward regarding former George mayor Melvin Naik's similar application for an interdict against the DA's decision to end his party membership.
DA Regional Chair Jaco Londt said the party takes note of the judgement in the Willemse (Knysna) matter.
"We are pleased with the outcome, with the judge ruling in our favour. Willemse had ceased to be a member of the DA last year. This judgement might also impact the Naik matter in George."
Londt said the DA will reserve further comments for now, until they have studied the full judgement.
