Reverend Bongani Finca is currently a commissioner for the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and heads its East London office.
He is one of 13 former truth commissioners interviewed by Eyewitness News as part of a special podcast series called History for the Future.
Finca, who was appointed to the TRC by former president Nelson Mandela, says South Africa’s post apartheid-era governments have not taken seriously enough the recommendations of the commission.
The TRC suggested a business reconciliation fund be established to help mitigate the effects of years of economic discrimination.
