Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangani Mulaudzi said the second accused in the matter didn’t appear because he couldn’t be linked to the incident.
Last month CCTV footage was released by the police showing a picture of a man in a hooded top walking down the corridor of the building.
It was initially reported that R50m worth of foreign currency had been stolen, but Hawks later confirmed the amount was R17m.
The suspect will, however, appear again at the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Tuesday to apply for bail.
