NATIONAL NEWS - The Democratic Alliance (DA) is in hot water with the Public Protector for revealing that her office will be investigating the circumstances related to a R30 million pension payout to former Eskom chief executive, Brian Molefe.
On Monday, the DA circulated a letter from Busisiwe Mkhwebane's office confirming their complaint would be probed by a senior investigator.
Mkhwebane’s spokesperson Cleopatra Mosana says at issue is compromising the investigation.
On Monday, the DA said it was pleased the Public Protector was following up on its complaint because the payout would be a gross abuse of public funds.
The complaint followed similar ones already lodged with the Chapter Nine institution by the South African National Civic Organisation and the Freedom Front Plus.
