KNYSNA NEWS - Southern Cape police are appealing to the public to come forward with any information pertaining to a week-old baby girl found in Green Street, Knysna Central, yesterday afternoon.
According to police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie, the discovery was made yesterday (Monday 31 August) at about 14:40.
"The abandoned coloured baby girl, estimated to be about a week old, was discovered by a passer-by in the bushes near Green Street who brought the baby to the Knysna SAPS Community Service Centre," Pojie said.
"The baby was immediately transferred to Knysna Provincial Hospital where she was admitted and is currently receiving medical treatment and nurturing. Attempts to find the parents of the baby are under way."
Pojie explained further that a charge of child neglect charge will be brought against the parent(s) of the child "with more charges that might be added".
