GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - York High School had reason to celebrate today with top matric results, a 100% pass rate and being the proud home of the national top matric candidate, Abigail Kok.
Kok was welcomed earlier today by fellow learners and teachers at George Airport after attending a breakfast with Western Cape Minister David Maynier for the country’s top 40 achievers in Johannesburg.
Kok achieved an outstanding average of 98,4%. She was named the top matric candidate in South Africa for 2025 and also achieved the top result in Physical Sciences (99%).
Her achievements in other subjects are as follows: Accounting 100%, Life Orientation 100%, Mathematics 99%, Afrikaans First Additional Language 98%, Life Sciences 97% and English Home Language 96%.
Abigail Kok is York High’s dux learner and head girl of 2025.
York High principal Francois Moll said Kok’s kind and gentle character is shared by many of the matrics in her school year. “They are an amazing group of learners,” said Moll.
“Abigail was not only involved in sport and culture; she was also highly involved in service. These learners – our matrics of 2025 – are truly an outstanding group who carried York’s ethos throughout the year.”
