NATIONAL NEWS - Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown has asked her personal assistant to resign following allegations that she had dealings with the controversial Gupta family.
According to the latest Gupta emails, Brown’s personal assistant, Kim Davids, has been instrumental in making key decisions, including the selection of new board appointments to state-owned enterprises.
In 2015 crucial appointments of officials sympathetic to the Guptas were made with Davids' involvement.
In a statement, the minister says that she asked Davids to resign so as not to compromise the legitimacy of her office.
"This past week I have been confronted by allegations against Ms Davids. In the interest of fairness, I asked Ms Davids to respond to these allegations.
