Released by lifestyle blog Highsnobiety, the multi-coloured wrapped examples of BMW's newest crossover takes after the concept shown in Paris last year, and according to reports, will ride on the same UKL front-wheel drive platform as the Mini Countryman, BMW 2-series Active Tourer and X1.

As its name suggests, the X2 will effectively fill the gap between the X1 and X3, and feature a coupe-like appearance with a steeply raked rear end bearing similarities to the X4, with the taillights and bootlid taking after that of the 1-series. The biggest change upfront has been the redesigned kidney grille, which is now longer than on any current BMW, while the C-pillar has affixed with the BMW badge.

Power will likely come from the same range of three and four-cylinder turbo petrol engines as the 1-series and X1, with a performance six-cylinder M model capping the range off. A range of four-cylinder diesel engines will also be available depending on the market. Expect transmissions to consist of a six-speed manual, six-speed Steptronic and eight-speed Steptronic. Select models will also offer xDrive all-wheel drive.
