MOTORING NEWS - What a great way to re-launch Bike and Quad Oval Racing in George last Saturday! More than 40 riders of all ages, from 6 to 68, participated on a variety of bikes, from scooters to Africa Twins, Quads and Krosskarts.
Spectators also arrived in their numbers to support the intrepid competitors.
Although the emphasis is on fun, there is no way to dampen the competitive nature of the riders who push themselves to the limit to reach the finish flag.
Racing was held at the George stock car track, which had been prepared to international standard by the George Motor Club. Local motor sport promoter Bobby Hacks hopes that, with the generous support of the showground society and spectators, the event will become a regular happening.
He thanked everyone for their support and promised that there are many more races to come.
The next Bike and Quad Oval is taking place on 31 August in conjunction with the annual George Show. There will also be go karts and stock car racing, adding a speed fest to an already busy showground programme. More information will be published as it becomes available.
