GEORGE NEWS - George Virgin Active has confirmed that its lease at their current premises on the corner of Langenhoven Street and Witfontein Road comes to an end in August this year.
The company responded to a query about members being unsure about the future of the gym.
Jacqui Walter, head of customer service, said Virgin Active has unfortunately been unable to secure a new lease for this site.
"We are seeking a short-term extension of this date, but have yet to receive a confirmation from the landlord."

Walter told George Herald that Virgin Active will not discontinue its service in George, but has secured a site for the construction of a new club in York Street.
"We expect this club to open in September 2023. If we are unable to secure an extension of the George club lease, we have made arrangements to accommodate our members in a temporary gym pending completion of our new health club. All our staff will be retained and move across to the new site,” she said.
"We will make further announcements and formally communicate to our members once all the necessary arrangements have been finalised.”
