The following subsidised services that registered ‘indigent ‘households qualify for includes:
- Six kilolitres (6kL) of free water per month per household (everything above 6kL must be paid for);
- Seventy kilowatts (70kW) of free units of electricity per month per household (everything above 70kW must be paid for);
- 100% rebate for refuse and sewerage services;
- 100% rebate for property tax on a property valuation below R150 000 (if more than R150 000, a registered indigent may apply for a rebate in terms of the criteria).
- A certified copy of identification document (ID)
- income information such as a salary slip or SASSA documentation
- three months’ bank statements
- a municipal account
- a pre-paid electricity slip
- If the applicant does not know the whereabouts or contact details of the owners of the house he or she occupies, an affidavit stating this should be supplied.
