GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - The 16th Outeniqua Wheelchair Challenge is in full swing!
Everyone is now waiting for the 42.2km and 21.1km races to finish. Both races start and finish at the Garden Route Mall.
More than 200 spectators have come to support their favourite athletes.
Mayor Melvin Naik is looking forward to seeing his favourite athlete, Gerrit Hendricks from George, who is participating the 42.2km race - the full marathon.
Motorists must please be careful on the roads as the athletes are racing through town.
The OCC is the only exclusive event in South Africa for persons with physical disabilities. It has become a pioneering event for previously disadvantaged and disabled young athletes, as well as all disabled persons, who embrace the opportunity to take part in a major sporting event that recognises them as athletes, no matter what their level of participation.
