GEORGE NEWS - York High School's head boy and musical genius, Ludolph Pedro, is the school's top achiever with an average of 94,86% and eight distinctions.
His "muso brother", Samuel Leggatt, came in second with an average of 94,57% and seven distinctions.
In third place is Amani Lamprecht with an average of 94,14% and seven distinctions.
York High School achieved a 98,9% pass rate and upped its bachelor's degree passing rate to 87%.
The headmaster, Francois Moll, said they are very proud of the matric class of 2022.
"I'm so proud of this particular grade, not just in terms of their academic achievements, but they are very much responsible for relaunching the school after Covid, making sure our multiple cultural programmes, our service club and sport, that they got that going again."

Moll also gave a special shout-out to Heatherlands High School on its 97,8% pass rate. "Mr Moses, his team and the learners can be so proud."

There are schools in this town that have done amazingly well. "I think it is very important in George that we begin to get a sense as a town... that all our kids are all our kids. We are one super village, it not just York as an island or Outeniqua as an island.
"We have to look at how we are doing as a team and how our kids in our area are doing. And I think they are doing fantastic. Well done to the parents, congratulations to our learners and to everyone involved in the educational space - and quite honestly, everyone should be involved in the educational space. This is the business of society," Moll added.
Amani Lamprecht is third with 94,14% and 7 distinctions.
